    Dvd-rw

OK I'm going to get a DVD-RW for my computer, but I need some advice as to what to get. I've had a Pioneer before and that worked OK, and I heard that LG are good too. What would anyone reccomend to me. Also what's the difference between DVD-RW and +RW?

    Thanks in advance.

NEC. From reading some reviews, the pioneer drives are *almost* as good as the nec 3500, then nec brought out the 3520, which was slightly better again. This may sound a little bizarre, but for once, the best is also one of the cheapest, i'm guessing because everyone bought it, bringing manufacturing costs down.

though hunt about for the best price, but tht ain't bad.

DVD-RW and DVD+RW ?? compatibility as far as i'm aware.

The retail pioneer 109 is a great looking drive though

Had a Pioneer i bought 2nd hand fail on me 2 weeks after i bought it / just out of warrenty, 105 i think it was. Got a NEC 3520 and its amazing, burn after burn, hasnt knackered any disks. They've released a 3540 also, so i suppose thats worth looking into.

    Pioneer are a good brand.
My 105 seems to be dead, I will try and fix it - looks like the spindle motor has gone.
A few? years use out of a drive I payed 1/5th of the then-current cheapest price.. not bad
Lets hope if I buy another drive from *that shop* they will, again, send me a much better drive than I payed for

I will probably get a NEC or pioneer now dpending on whats cheapest. I dont really use optical drives other than for installing stuff.. with 500gb of hdd I dont really need to burn much

Don't think there are any that support dvd-rw yet :/ My wifes hp one isn't bad - still working etc. They are just a bit pricey! (and we've had a couple of lightscribe side failures)

Well, unless you want to pay over the odds for that Pioneer, its between the NEC 3540 or the Toshiba SD-R5372-BK ( which is CustomPCs fav one).
Personally the Toshiba looks the best.
The Toshiba is the fastest DVD writer around.
