How can storing discs in tubs/spindles be bad if manufacturers sell them like that?

Surely if it was a bad idea to store discs in tubs then manufacturers would not sell them like that

How can they survive all the postage and warehouse knocks and not be a good method of household storage?

How could storing discs in tubs ever be bad?! It's a tub?
And you're semi right - if it was bad, it would be a bad idea and wouldn't be done....

Now that is annoying, I made a similar thread a month or two ago asking what would be a cheap, easy way to store discs and everyone shot down spindles and tubs as being unsafe

You are more likely to scratch discs in a spindle if you arent careful and they are marginally more susceptable to any strong light they happen to be in. But i think thats just being pedantic, theres nothing wrong with them as far as i know.

i keep most of mine in one of those £3 fold out cases from svp, but i keep loads on spindles too. As long as you left the paper advertising cover on the outside light damage doesnt happen (as light cant get thru) and they wont get scratched unless you start purposly trying...
