Whats better 1GB for £130 or 2GB for £150?
Im talking about crucial stuff, the 1 gb being balistix and the 2 being normal.

What are you doing with it? General use/games - 1Gb. Do you need loads of RAM for any particular reason?
na, well game are liking it now

mmmm I'd go for 1Gb. (2 512s in dual channel - yes?)
But then again I wouldn't spend £130 on it. Any more info on the 2Gb? Linky? 2 1 gig sticks or what?
Any game that won't run properly on 1GB RAM is so poorly written it needs to be avoided. Very few applications benefit from more than 512MB, let alone a GB. Scanning and manipulating very very large hires images is one exception.
If programmers were not so lazy it would have been enough. Also, Bill was very accurate for that time. It was plenty. The Apple ][+ made due with 48k for the most part, and only 64k of total address space. Still, some of the best games ever written were done on the Apple ][.Originally Posted by skuzgib
MMORPG like 2GB. What ram then, for 1GB. Im a fan of balistix myself.

Anyone know where to get it in black?

Just depends on what speeds you want to run your RAM at and how much you like vmodding. If you're not going for a specific level of performance any RAM will do. If you have a certain combination of FSB, HTT, LDT, CPU speed and multi, CMD rate (1T/2T) and timings you think you need to run then your CPU, chipset and memory must be up to the task. You can usually get decent results even with cheap RAM if you play with the settings, but if you want the most out of your setup you need to spend a large chunk of change on memory. If you're running an NF4 board anything with TCCD chips will probably give exellent performance.
What TCCD is there out there? What was the stuff i linked to?

The stuff you linked to is not TCCD. It's only CAS2 on Intel setups. It's 2.5 fo AMD. Corsair XL is TCCD and there are many others.Originally Posted by nvening

Get PC3200 JDEC programmed 2-2-2-5 at DDR400.
So this is TCCD?

Unless you have more than 1GiB of ram.Originally Posted by StormPC
Personally I've never bought a game becasuse it was a fantastic piece of coding. Nor have I avoided a porrly written game that ran well, ran stable, and was fun, with the system I had.
1.5GB was not enough to run Sim City 4 on a very large scale city. Seriously I saw SimCity4.exe using 1300m physical memory and my page file at 2.7G and it lags like hell in game.
Ultimately that made me "abandon" my city.
If you like FPS games 1G low CL memory will be better, if you're playing RTS or SIM type games, 2G is a way better choice. I'm going 3G on my next upgrade.
