i put all the compnonents from another shuttle into it to test it so all bits are good
    but it wont post
ive tried three sets of ram all working from different shuttles and nothing no beeps nothing ive tried 2 cpus as well the fans all turn ie on the ice and on the graphics card and the card works fine as does the other stuff when i move it back into an sn41g2, theres no overheating at least the led overheat led isint lighting up and ive reseated the cpu checked cables etc and i cant see what the problem is ,oh and ive reset cmos jumper half a dozen times removed battery etc , is there anything else you can think of trying that im missing

looks like you done most of the usual checks, I can't really think of anything else since the parts you using in the 41 should work on the 45. seems like you got yourself a faulty sn45g. Any chance of getting a refund???

try a psu from another shuttle, doubt that is the problem but you never know.

    hope you fix it soon

You probably have checked... but is the 4 pin power connector plugged in? I've forgotten that before.

Really a question for the SFF forum .

Have you tried the Insert trick that sometimes (rarely) brings these back to life.

Pop all your components in, reset the CMOS jumper with power unplugged, hold Insert on a PS2 connected keyboard and hit the power button. Try a few times.

That said the SN45G V2 is a steaming pile of **** IMHO, 1stly they have the RAM voltage = dead board problems and secondly they just LOVE to die like yours. I have 3 dead FN45 boards (from these Shuttles) upstairs that just will not post and they have not been broken by OC'ing or the mem voltage but, just gave up and stopped posting.

I've got a 45Gv2 and it works a treat! The only problem I've heard about is the VDimm issue. This sounds like what your shuttle is suffering from. Make sure that guy got his shuttle booting before he sold it off.

If the motherbaord light isn't showing (the green one) then it's a bust PSU.

There are a fair number of other niggles with some SN45G's (Mostly Shuttles bad quality control much like the current SN95G5 fiasco) but your correct the VDIMM issue will kill the board and it 'could' end up in this state however I thought the MB LED would not light if it was a VDIMM component blow and I am sure I read the LED was lighting.

Edit: Nope, nowhere in the post does it state the board LED is working so it 'could' be a VDIMM blow.

Sounds like my beloved Shuttle, motherboard packed it in two days ago and it's 3 months out of warranty. Ive gone from singing its praises and saying I would never build a full size PC again to cursing the miserable thing and fully intending to buy the biggest case I can just out of spite.

Hassle Shuttle suport in Germany and they'll send one out free of charge, I have done this twice. It is most likely a hosed BIOS.

You will most likely need the BIOS removal tool there are two types I can't remember off hand which you need, think its PLCC something.

Interesting, where the BIOS chips hot flashable (i.e. they lost there data but where not dead if you reflashed via a chip swap or programmer) or was it more fatal?

I dont have any kit to reflash unfortunately... I was going to buy some kit but decided against it. I don't particularly like BIOS's
