    Hard drives

    Howdy!

Got 2 hdd's in my rig which I put together at the weekend in my old lian li pc60 case. Problem is, well not sure if it's a problem, but I'm using a floppy drive aswell, so all 3 bays are filled up and are actually quite tight! This has started to worry me as I know that hdd's can produce a bit of heat! Is there anywhere else I can mount the other hdd? Is it safe doing this? Would it be better to perhaps mount the fdd between the 2 hdd's? Also are hdd's suppose to be up any particular way?

Also, I have a braided fdd cable, however no apparent *twist* anyway to tell which way round they are suppose to go? Iknow it is probably trial and error, but wondering if there are any characteristics. I notice that one side the braids go further up the wires as opposed to the other side - is this purposely done?

Sorry for blatent noob questions. =]

If you've got some 5.25" bays free, you can buy brackets to screw on to the side of your HD which will allow the drives to be screwed into the 5.25" bays. You're right, HDDs do create a lot of heat.

The Lian-Li cases have hard drive racks at the bottom of the case for drives, don't they?

Bah mine was missing!!! Or it didn't come on the pc60? Saying that does look like there's something suppose to be there.

I had some drives have intermittent failures when used in a tight sandwich like that, you'd be well to get them more spread out.
