Weirdest Problem Ever

Ok I'm pulling my hair out here.

got this all was working till a fan on my old ATI card failed so I took it back to the shop for a replacement and chose the geforce.

When I got back I couldnt consistantly get a picture on the screen, i.e sometimes it worked sometimes it didnt, I tested the monitor and that was fine and I also test the GPU and that was fine, So I narrowed it down to the mobo, after RMAing it back, they said it worked fine and had no problems.
I've tried both the DVI and the anologue cables too

I've reassembled the pc and it booted fine with 1 stick of ram, then I lost the picture again, it then but the pc kept booting to windows I just couldnt see it, a few reboots later the picture came back.
I went to sticks 2 of ram and it started blue screening in a loop just before it hit windows, so I increased the Ram voltage to 3.0 and now it boots into windows with 2-2-5-2 with both sticks


My question is this, am I losing the picture because they're wasnt enough power going into the Ram or is that rubbish.
My thoughts are that no matter what I should always get a picture ?

at this stage I dont know what to do, It could be the mobo still and its just temperamental but I would have thought they would have picked that up when it was RMAed? Should I ask for a refund and if so how should I go about it bearing in mind DFI have said its ok ?

(btw its important to note I had this setup running fine with an ati radeon x850xt no screen issues or anything and the same ram was running fine under 2.6 volts?

Was it all bought from the same shop?

When you say couldn't consistantly get a pic on the screen are you talking about POST/windows boot up or when in windows?

I'm talking about either getting a picture period or not getting any display at all !
When I get a picture it stays, when I dont get a picture I never get a picture if that makes sense, i.e no video coming through.
I've never lost the picture midway through anything.

is the card sitting correctly ? , i had something like this when i had the fx5800u and a mobo component was stopping the card from sitting right

It could be a power issue as those 6800Ultra's eat the juice, if you have a duff PSU then the card maybe under powered. Worth a look at.

I'm sure the card is correctly, it drops with a nice clunk, althought I have to hold the metal strip over to the left a small amount the fix the screw in

Had this issue the other night, check your RAM is seated good, and check the ram is compatible with each other.

Then check your card is seated good.

After that boot the system and see what happens. you shouldn't have problems with RAM at standard speeds so it may be worth bring the voltage to default.

well I rang the guy at dfi in holland and he said get the latest bios and drop the voltage down as I might burn it out.

is there anywhere I can check what optimum volts it should be running at ?
The corsair webiste doesnt seem that good.

corsair will run at 2.9v quite happily, the out the box voltage for their sticks is 2.6v

right am going to get latest bios and flash it, dont really want it going at 3.0 when it doesnt need to be

These DFI mobo's seem to have a few "Niggly" problems. Not heard this one before, I take it you have put everything back to stock and tried starting again?

Corsair XL has TCCD so you don't need a lot of volts. Run it at 2.8 until you have fixed your problem. Run everything at very modest or stock settings until you are sure everything is running properly before overclocking and heavily overvolting.

Did you use Driver Cleaner to completely remove all ATI stuff before loading the nVidia drivers? You should also reload your nF4 drivers and possibly check out your DX9 as well.

The BIOS update is a good idea as well since the San Diego cores are pretty new.

Look here for some good info pertaining to your motherboard and TCCD memory.

Read this carefully. It details many of the quirks in the DFI board you have.
