    Problems with new system

Ok, i just built my system. When i turn it on all the fans power and the 3 of the mobos leds go on and the forth one flashes ( the manual ststes all four as system start up, is the flash this?) My Dell monitors power putton turns from yellow to gree, but after a few seconds the light goes back to yellow. I have tested the monitor and it works on my old system.

I have reseated the GPU and tryed both DVI and analog but i get the same result. The GPUs fan is on, its power is connected, and the motherboards lights say that it is detected. I am not hearing any beeps but i am not sure about my speakers.

    Thanks.

Wouldnt put it down to the GFX card if i were you. My 2nd PC went down yesterday, and i too thought "Gfx card." Changed the card for a FX5200 and still nothing. Reseated RAM, CPU, and put the 6600GT back in, and it was fine.

Ps. what board and CPU are you using, if your using a San Deigo that may be why?

    Clear CMOS.

Sounds like a cold boot, no post problem. Either a BIOS problem, or memory.

but the dell monitor green to amber syndrome would indicate a video issue.

but it must be BIOS related if you are sure the graphics are fine, do you have another system you can check the GPU in?

If you're installing to a SATA drive then I'm saying yes.

I tryed to install windows and it loaded what it needed then the pc reset itself. It now hangs on "Verifying DMI pool data........" it does nothing. I tryed clearing the cmos and it verifys it and then says "saving the cmos.....OK" and then does nothing, and pressing enter does nothing. So i restarted the pc and it hangs on the dmi thing again. It used to pass this in seconds. grrrrrrrrrr

Disconnect the HDD and see if it leaves you with a boot error.

IMO, don't bother with DFI boards, they're too much hassle. Mine has just stopped working again and I've tried so many things to get it back up and running again... it's been a whole waste of a flipping day I should've been spending looking for a new job.
