i did it in 30 mins and had system back up.
real easy job, make sure you have soldering gun and insulation tape. not to difficult but worth every second. beats the BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ;)
so what are the dangers involved with doing this
none really, psu may carry a charge after being turned off, so becarefull, remove all the screws you need to, snip the old wire about 2cm away from base of fan, solder and tape it, replace new fan and bend over pins.
Working inside a PSU (when disconnected from the mains) can still be dangerous. If you are competent witha soldering iron and feel confortable working with this type of stuff, then it's a 20minute job.Quote:

If not, steer well clear and get someone else to do it for you.
Otherwise, if you get something wrong, at best you could knacker your PSU, at worse you could hurt yourself....
I am pretty confident that i will be able to solder the wires without any hassle i just dont want to touch the psu unit itself then??
If you're asking questions like that then IMHO, you shouldn't be attampting this task!Quote:

ok no worries i will do it myself :p
I am sure it will be easy enough
It is easy....
Good i will be doing it tomorrow....
Let us know how you go on!
;)
I have done it :)
I have also removed the pressed steel at the rear of the case and replaced it with a 80mm grill.
It does seem a little quieter, i just need to change my 9800 fan or make it alot quieter.
