With the X2's coming out and crossfire coming out, would it be worth waiting for the price drops on the x850's and the venicesand diegos. Or wont there be a price drop?

There most likely won't be much of a price drop, there never is.
Um....yes there are? There will almost certainly be processor price drops in either July or August. Prices on stuff like 6800GTs have already dropped a bit, but will probably drop a bit more once 7800GTX availability becomes widespread etc. Personally I'd wait another month and see what happens. Nvidia might well release a plain 7800 (with, say, 16 pipes, but all the other enhancements), and I expect there'll be a 7600 sooner or later too.
Ravem it doesn't happen really. Look at 9800Pro's, it took them a long time to drop in price.
Company's buy tese at top prices, so when newer tech comes along, they still keep the pricey relativly high, otherwise they loose los of money/. They know people still buy them because they are clueless.
I personally see little point in splashing so much money on a X2 and 7800GTX, for a few frames more than a say a 3700+ San Diego and X805XT.
im going to get a 3700 with a x800XL, but if i can squeeze a X850XT in because they drop a little in price over the next month i will. Im going to be waiting till end of july anyway, because thats next pay day

I'll be heading to Uni for the coming year and I'm gonna hold out till about August. Your best bet if you want to take advantages of the new tech is look for second hand stuff - you'll always get people upgrading to the latest tech and their hand me downs can be bargins!
AMD are due to reduce prices on some of their cpus in July sometime. As for gfx cards there is always a premium for latest bling so holding off a month to let things settle down is wise if you can stand the wait.
I would personally set a PC budget as ridgidly as possible (yep we can laff at that one) and see what you can get now for the cash then wait a month and recalculate. Look at the difference. 4 weeks ain't much.

if you're heading off to uni, don't upgrade your pc, seriously, you'll hardly use it once you're there, only for work, most your enjoyment and entertainment will come from the people around you.
Yea I don't intend to spend big bucks on it but I'm going to Computer Science and Electronic Engineering so something that's nice and slick for work.
