    Memory Weirdness

System says 1 Gb installed and the memory software from corsair says 1 stick of 512 Mb XpertXL.

Nope - its not hyperthreaded memory. Its my corsair Xpert-XL thats given up the ghost and is now in the process of being replaced

Interestingly, that Corsair Dashboard thingymabobby still recognises that the first DIMM slot isn't empty (I assume that's the one with the broken stick?)

Yeap - the stick in slot 1 is technically dead.

Windows boots "occasionally" - now and again I get "memory failure" coming from the vocal POST tester but the corsair dashboard no longer says its there and the LED display and usage bars are not working.

But you know I'm glad corsair have a "lifetime" warranty on their memory modules
