    Question Which Board

Hi again chaps, i'm here to pick your brains again . So i'm upgrading my PC and i've narrowed it down to four motherboards......

    1. Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi

    2. Abit Fatal1ty AN8

    3. MSI K8N SLI Platinum SLi

    4. MSI K8N Diamond

So which do i go for ? .

At the moment i'm leaning towards the Abit Fatality AN8 SLi cause it comes with the UGuru Panel, but really i want the one that is going to deliver the best performance.

So can i have your opinions please . Ta

P.S My uses for this rig will be gaming and overclocking.

Will you use SLi? If not theres no point in getting an SLi capable board.

well i'm not to hot with SLi, can u only use it with Nvidia cards? Cause i'm getting a X800XL. If u can use SLi with ATi cards then i might get another X800XL later.

I do like the Abit boards and the Fatality AN8 SLi is only £14 more than the Fatality AN8 (NON-SLi). I don't no if you think the same, but this difference is justifable by having the option of SLi and also UGuru panel is included with the SLi model.

So i guess now i'm say which one.....

    Abit Fatal1ty AN8

    or

Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi (includes UGuru Panel)

Are the speeds of the Abit Fatal1ty AN8 & Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi equal? (apart from when in SLi Mode) or does one edge over the other? Because if the Fatal1ty AN8 is quicker than the SLi then i might pick that!?!?

    argghh i have a headache

SLI on some Nvidia cards only. There is crossfire for for ATI but forget that, its not worth it. All the Nforce boards are about the same performance as the memory controller is on the CPU and they all use the same chip. The SLI and Ultra chips are the same, the Ultra can be turned into an SLI by a pencil lol.

If you want this UGuru thing then get the SLI.

When you have this, then uGuru is no more new things

This board comes with overclocking as well, and lots of onboard features that cannot disclose yet at this moment...

I can get a DFI Lanparty S939 nForce4 Ultra-D for £100 (£30 cheaper than the Abit SLi) worth considering or not?

DFI is not bad but I prefer Asus. The A8N-E Deluxe is incredible. That's what I'm using on all my new S939 systems now including my X2's.

I would discount the Fatality AN8 - if you were thinking of that imho you are better with the plain AN8 Ultra ( 3.55Vdimm versus 2.8V & better sound). The Fatality SLi has 3.55Vdimm too & I must admit I was very nearly tempted by the uGuru panel - may well pick 1 up seperately.

Tbh these days between the memory controller in the CPU & chipsets there doesn't seem to be a tremendous difference between similar boards.
