It's common knowledge that most gamers require 1gb RAM. Now with games like Battlefield 2 i'm hearing that 2GB is the preferred amount, is this true?
Is there anyone out there running 1GB of RAM with Battlefield 2 and how are you coping?

i know loads people running it on a gig, and even 512, runs fine. Ignore the u must have 2 gig to play cause its a load of ***t

1G will have slightly degraded performance. If you want to play, you can play with 256M ram. It will play, just not fast. 1.5G will give almost maximum and 2G obviously optimal.
1G will be a bit slower, but compensated by better memory timing.

You can manage well with one gig, but I would hardly consider 512MB to be "just fine" for BF2. Anyway, 1.5GB+ is best, if you are going to be running it at higher settings.
I can play HL2, Far Cry, BF2 etc fine with 768 RAM
i have an amd xp 2.1, 512mb ram & a radeon 9800 pro. battlefield 2 defaults to low settings on everything & is unplayable on medium settings. do you think ram or cpu is the most critical factor as i can't afford to upgrade both.
