I get the feeling that sony use there own shape Ram modules. Do they?
Im guessing that if they do they are very very high.
How about Toshiba?
Also what about the cheap makes like ACER?

Sony do make their own and upgrades are incredibly expensive.
Toshiba are standard SODIMM modules, as are Acer. I happen to have a laptop from each of these manufacturers in the household at the moment and am pretty sure they are standard across the ranges as to whether they use their own/standard ram.

My Tosh has standard SO-DIMM modules, they're samsung in fact.
What?
go to www.crucial.com/uk and follow their memory finder thing to find prices on sony and toshiba ram.
512mb DDR for my sony laptop is only £52, nothing special or different
entering sony vaio only comes up with a few models and none that i know of.
toshiba seems to be well covered. I wonder if they choose to make a few compatible
ones rather than then being some standard shape.
God damn sony they make it so hard to like them
Just about the entire Sony range is covered; seriously, what's the model number of your laptop?Quote:
