    Laptop processors and choice

Hi peeps, wife is after a laptop for doing here dissertation on, but I am rather confused by the mobile processors.

Most of the laptops I have looked at hace celeron mobile 360 1.4GHz processors.

Or theres the Mobile AMD Sempron® 2800+ (1.6GHz) type rigs.

Budget is around £400-£450, apart from the processors the rest of the spec on most models is the same, ie 15", wifi, 40Gb, 256MB. Are there any advantages with either type of procesor?

Not really a lot in it. And for just WP and such either is more than powerful enough.

There's not much in it as Butcher says- the latest mobile Semprons are the socket 754 (I.E. K8 variety) and perform well. The Acer looks alright for the money; occasionally Dell do cheaper ones i.e. sub £350 with a similar spec- depends how much of a hurry you're in really, if there's no urgency wait for the next deal to turn up.
