Which would be quicker?
Building a machine for a dedicated server.
I have the choice of the following
P4 2.8Ghz 533Mhz
Gigabyte 8INXP Motherboard
or
P4 2.4Ghz 800Mhz
Asus P4P800S (not the complete model number)
It will have 2GB (2x1GB) installed, im leaning towards the Gigabyte board due to the number of Sata ports, but that can be changed with a Sata Raid Card.
Also will boot from 2x36gb raptors in raid 1 config.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

hmmm, would you be overclocking it or leaving it standard?
I would say the 2.8 if standard.

Yea same here, although I don't really know much about P4's

The 2.4C has Hyperthreading, which does seem to help server performance a bit. Overall I reckon there'd be very little in it TBH. Go with whatever is cheaper/ more practical.

complete overkill for a home server. Whats it doing?

2003 Server, maybe exchange / web server / sharepoint server
the 2.8 is my old pc at present & the 2.4 is 2nd hand bits i have lying around, one is to be a server & the other will be my g/fs pc.

There is so little difference you wouldn't notice anything. I'd go with the 2.8 because it sounds more impressive and it's more money. Are these not the main reasons to buy Intel?
