Anyone with a 0517 3000+ Venice NOT able to reach 2.5Ghz+?

Someone offered me a new sealed retail 0517 Venice 3000+. Due to the nightmare I got from my Worst of the Worse 0518, I would rather move carefully.

Did anyone get bad overclock on a 0517? I know I have seriously BAD luck. If there are indeed some very "poorly" performing 0517, I would rather not risking my another 100 quids.

I'm sure i won't be 2.1Ghz again... But don't take my word for it, I might be wrong.. 100 odd seems a little expensive for a used cpu dun u think?

Ahh... I see... I suppose it shud clock pass 2.5Ghz tho, unless u had a mobo which is really REALLY buggy...

Lets go another way. I'm trying to push the voltage of my 0518 3000+ as low as possible.
I'm currently at 1.216V @ Stock 1.8Ghz, trying to go lower. Prime95 running in background stress testing to make sure the CPU will stay "alive" at this voltage 7x24.

Oddly enough Clockgen DOESN'T WORK!! Clock-wise it works, but Voltage-wise it doesn't. May be because I didn't turn on CnQ?

Not really, since I'm going to max out the CPU most of the time, cool'n'quiet won't be working very well.

I wonder how A64 handles undervolts.
100% CPU with CnQ disabled should be good enough hopefully.
Prime 10minutes stable at 1.152V, going lower now.
Too bad clockgen doesn't work, had to reboot to go through bios...

not suprising, Window's uGuru doesnt work for undervolting as well... lowest setting was 1.4V in windows.. probably try BIOS undervolting tonite on my 3500+ and post back to see if it helps...

1.088V Stable at the moment. Gonna leave it for a night to see if its completely stable.

hows the cpu running on temps? did the lower voltage give <30C idle temperature.. if it does... I woudn't mind going the distance...

I get 37 Idle 39 Full load (Room @ 29'C) when I was using 1.425V, now its 36'C Full Load at 1.088. I'm only use stock heatsink at the moment. I do have some ceramique but I don't think I'll need it for my 3000+.

Finally I'm somehow impressed by my 0518....It couldn't go up, but it could go down...

This is what I tried yesterday

I need to do Prime95 for a few hours before I push the voltage further down.

You can see in the pic CPU is NOT hot at all.
CPU Fan at 0RPM
Just plain crap Stock Cooler.
Room temperature 30'C (My air conditioner kicks in at 31'C and stops at 25'C, but I don't want my room at 22'C if I make it start at 28'C)

EDIT: CPU temperature is going up a bit after the fan stopped, I'll see at what level it will stay. I could try some overclocking at 1.008V later

ppls at SPCR may like my 0518 but I'm still unhappy about the fact that it doesn't run >2050Mhz at 1.5V.

EDIT2: Prime showed error 1.008V after about 20 minutes. but system is still stable. Going to give 0.025 more to the CPU to make it stable.

EDIT3: Prime currently stable for 1hr at 1.040V. CPU Operating fanlessly at 43'C stable using STOCK cooler. Will try overclocking slightly at this voltage level tomorrow.
