    Going to 939

Right, the time has come for my yearly upgrade in August.

    I am currently running a s754 Newcastle, 3000+ @ 2.21GHZ with cheap 2x512MB PC3200 (also at 221) on an Asus K8V SE Deluxe.

    I have a 9600XT 256MB with this.

I am going to be wanting to play UT2007 (UE3) when it comes out on my upgraded rig.

I was wondering which CPU to go for (Venice or SD) and which Mobo you can reccomend.

kinda not kept upto date with all the motherboards recently but I am kinda wanting to go away from Asus because of their poor customer service.

Sounds similar to the kinda stuff I'm looking for, but I am keeping my current case and drives. But i would prefer 2GB of Ram.

You don't need a new PC a newcastle at 2.2ghz is plenty.

What you need a decent video card.

    A 6800GT would be nice, or a X800XT.

Isn't the AGP Slot quite a restraint on the GFX cards tho?

No, AGP is just as fast as PCI-E with current cards.

If I stay on 754, is it worth getting a better board to overclock with, and one that actually ACCEPTS a BIOS flash.

If I flash my Asus it flashes then doesn't get past windows loading screen. Either stalls or gives me CMOS checksum error crap and emergency reflashing occurs

umm... epox or DFI boards for 754 seems pretty good for OCing. Smokey is probably right, you could probably stay with your current 2.2Ghz 754.. you're not losing that much on a single channel memory.. you're pretty much bound by ur gfx only...

Ach, I think you guys are right.

I'll just grab a couple of Gigs of high end ram and a good quality GFX card.

    6800GT or X850XL

Is UT2007 actually coming out in 2007? I'd wait until then to buy a rig to play it on personally.

Well, ut2007 is just a working title. I heard it was due out in 2006 (late)

But I was wondering if 939 is still going to be out thjen or whether its going to be as new socket?

If 939 is still going to be out, i may aswell wait then upgrade to 939 then
