yes its solid state has battery backup for when power to the pc is removed but will stay powered through the pci bus when pc is just shut down , the transfer rates these things are getting are unreal and there very cheap considering just the ram that is expensive but it will be totally silent and i will just have my discs up the loft networked for main storage

It has a battery on it so your data will be ok as long as your system is not unplugged more than about 12 hours. I'm pritty sure it uses standby power when the system is simply off.

Note that it only needs ddr200 so the cheapest 2gb dimms you can find would probbaly be fine.

i know it wont need fast ram but im having trouble finding some , i could start of with 2x 2gb dimms and raid them into 1 4gb drive just to start of as a slimmed down xp would be fine for that then every couple of weeks buy another couple of dimms till im happy

the benchmarks people have been getting are amazing and its obviously silent so its all good!

By now this old ram will probably cost quite a bit more than current ram.

Edit: what am i thinking? you can use any speed DDR and itll just run slow.

You probably want to check whether this is a single module, but:

Like I say - check with them, because it's possible that it's a slightly unclear listing for say a 2x1GB kit or something.
