    Question Asus A8N SLI PCI-E-

When i get this mobo tm, is it worth doing anything like a chipset update or a bios flash, or just leave it as it is?

Oh and what are the best drivers for x850 xt pe?

    5.7Cats.

And you might want to change the chipset fan, they can be noisy. You might need a BIOS flash you'll have to see.

If it doesnt work, what prosesser are you getting?

I have the same bord, and its really really worth getting the one with the passive heatsink. Theres a good change Directhex might even say his passive chipsets speach!

Its likely you might need a update for the newer core's. It depends what virision it ships with.

Only the Premium (not the Deluxe) has the passive. It's not a new version but a different board entirely.

BIOS flash is good to do but make sure it's 100% stable before you do it.

Exactly, thats why i said you'll have to wait and see Merlin...

If it detects the CPU fine, you don't have to, but if it's anything like flashing the BIOS on my Asus it's a piece of piss, way easier than my DFI NF3.

So....if the bios which comes on the mobo doesnt support the new san diego core, then he will have to flash the bios? How can he do this if the bios doesn't recognise the CPU?

im guessing put bios on a floppy from another pc and then boot from floppy. But im a noob so im probably wrong. Smokey u said make sure its a 100% stable first. What is stable, if it doesnt recognise the cpu, then its not going to be stable>

Exactly my thoughts . To get it stable, you need to flash bios which supports San Diego, but won't flashing require a CPU??? and that CPU is unstable because it's San Diego

Or if the system works and doesn't crash - flash from windows.

Yeap - I use the Asus "liveupdate" bios program without any major issues apart from the odd update required to the software itself.

I grab the betas straight off the German FTP server usually, save them to disk, then flash from file. I've done it whilst overclocked before, never had a problem, although I try to remember to go back to stock before flashing, just to be safe. I see no problem with flashing from windows these days, however.
