Need fast help lads
All my parts arrived today. All fitted in and everything good to go, but 1 problem, i have a x850 xt pe pci-e with artic cooler to fit on this Asus a8n E Sli board. The thing is i have to plug the dual channel ram into a1 and b1 slot otherwise it doesnt start up. But i also have to plug the card into the first pci-e slot otherwise it beeps and says make sure your card has power or something.
the card wont with in the firtst pci slot because the screw on the artic silencer hits the ram slot clip, and that ram slot needs to be used.

Edit soz
is it just the screw?
if so try unscrewing it and using some kinda adhesive to scure it on or leave the screw off
-
there are 3 screws connecting the x850 to the artic cooler. I dont know if it would work if i took it off?
-
depends on the screw location. If its at the end away from the actual gpu u shuld be able to get away with it.
Or goto somewhere like maplin and get thermal conductive adhesive.

Are you talking about this area in red?

Bugger. Sounds like you are going to need a different cooler or motherboard layout. But maybe you could post a pic so people here could suggest some kind of modification to the card/cooler.
EDIT : Christ! 5 posts between me loading the thread and getting aroung to posting. God i'm slow today.

You shouldn't have to start up with dual channel ram, you can just use one stick. This way you could use the computer while you work out some sort of solution.
Does your card look like this card? (shape not colour etc)

ok lads update. Ive got the ram in. (with the ram clip a little bent) the card also squeezed in. I turned on, ram led's all lit up but the red le's on the ram whent mad, and beeping noise kept going, and no pick was displaying

not the same coolr but yeah like that

ok. I need someone who has got a arctic silencer installed on their x800 series, Because if i take the pin of the artic silencer. There are 3 pins on this silencer

If i can take the bottom one off, then the ram can fit in slot A1
Anyone know whether this would work?
-
I dont know if you should, from this pic,http://www.insanetek.com/reviews/coo...s/P1010004.JPG
and this one,

It looks like that pin secures the copper to the core.
Just out of interest, how much was that gfx card and where did you buy it from? :)
-
Take it off and if it still feels secure ie it doesn't wobble too much it should be ok. Is it possible to turn the pin round?
Edit: or maybe use a smaller screw or nut?
-
Or, you could cut the screws shorter with a hacksaw :)
-
im tempted to take it off, but it is attched to the copper, Im new to this stuff so i just dont know.

When the card beeped and said check the power, did you actually check the power? :P You should be able to use both the ram and the gfx in alternative slots, so have a fiddle and see. Also, the red LEDs on your ram are probably unrelated to the bent clip tbh, try running memtest for that if it won't boot
