Highest performing AGP card for Shuttle SN45

    Hi All

Was wondering if anyone knew what the fastest AGP card is that can be put into a Shuttle SN45. I have been looking at the 6800GT which being single slot would be ok but I was hoping there was something faster that I could get ?

    Shuttle SN45
    Barton 3200 +
    Radeon 9600XT
    Corsair 3200LLPT
    Intel Gigabit Ethernet Card
    Samsung 80GB HDD
    Liteon Combo DVD

    Cheers

No, I had the SN45G and the 6800GT is the most powerful that would fit. Is the 7800GTX a single slot?

Thanks guys I think the X800XL is single slot and AGP but is it faster than a 6800GT ?

The 7800GTX is single slot but unfortunately it's pci-e.

Is the X850 single slot but isn't the X850XT faster than 6800GT but is dual slot ?

    Cheers

6800GT deffo works and is quite quick. Just make sure you have the 250w processor.

You could put a 6800 ultra in there if you wanted. All you'd need to do is to replace the stock cooler and/or mod the case!

    Without modding I have used 6800 GT's and a few ATI's (X800 and X850 Pro) without issues.

Don't try it with an Acme or Enhance 200W PSUs however as that will die very quickly. The 250W Silent X's are up to the job however.

To be honest any of the high end AGP cards you can get will see that riug to it's grave. By the time you do your next big upgrade your onto a PCIe card and board anyway.

Thanks guys, I didn't want to have to shell out more money for another PSU since this one is relatively new cause my other one just went pop in a lightning storm :-(

DJWillis - are there any heat issues with those cards you mentioned ?

YorkieBen - I remember that card but I can't seem to find anyone that sells it. Any ideas or do you know where to get hold of one ?

Cheers and thanks a lot for your comments.

Not in my experance (I have a few Shuttles with this sort of config), it's just a G series Shuttle case after all and many people run X850's, 6800, X800 etc. in the later G cases like the SN95G5 (me included) without problems. If you already have heat issues then the card is not going to help but that is fairly obvious .
