Are you going for an AMD or Intel setup? What's your budget?
Abit all the WAYYYYYYYYY!
IC7 or NF7-S
nearly every motherboard i had in the last 7 years is Abit, not 1 messy board
What digital Graphics programs are you intending to use?
If its just photoshop and the like, then imho you dont need to spend money on an intel beast - a budget PC would suit your needs. Perhaps buying yourself a nice DVD writer instead for storage, or some decent speakers for playing that music on........ or changing your amp in your existing hifi for one that can handle 2 sets of speakers - one set where they are now and perhaps a 2nd set in the computer room. Only spend money on the cpu and mobo if you need it imho.
If you are intending to run any pro level 3D rendering programs, then the extra investment of the Pentium4 could be worth it.
Edit: If you are on a budget and dont have a decent sound card, then the onboard sound on NForce 2 mobos like the NF7s are hard to beat value wise.
you need to give people an idea of your budget etc, and any other information which may help us help you
You want an Abit NF7-S V2.0 copled with Duel channel Coasir 256MB Pc3200 and a 1700+ clock it to the max a cheap but fast pc
I agree. And compared with a p4 rig it doesnt cost that muchOriginally posted by Jcb33

i would think you want an AMD setup for the better flop rates etc
could save you lots of time when rendering etc
I want the best .....
sound card - Audigy 2 Platinum
Video card- Radeon 9800 Pro
Thanks all that ,,,replied.......
janey
If there truly is no budget then we are talking
3.2Ghz p4
Promethia setup
1gb or so of nice fast corsair mem
Canterwood p4 mobo
a few WD raptor SATA drives in RAID 0
radeon 9800 pro
oh what's that? you suddenly have a budget? come on give us something to work to janey
Whats wrong with Geforce FX 5900 Ultra? I though it beats Rad 9800?
It seems to be apples for apples, not much between them. I havnt heard on the cooling solution for the 5900's (although it does depend on which brand you get), but i know the 9800's arnt very loudOriginally posted by catattack

All i'm worried about is perfomance... I can give a rats butt about noise, and it wouldnt be like super loud so you couldnt play games or what not. The reviews show it has better performance then Rad 9800.
if you look closer in actual gaming preformance though....
.... you find that the nVidia drivers help out in certain benchmarking areas such as 3DMark :/
??? explain what your trying to say I didnt quite get it lol?
