    Best cooling

I have a small problem. I'm thinking of getting a new motherboard, processor and RAM in the next few weeks. I'm thinking of getting:

DFI Lanparty UT 250GB, Athlon 64 3200+ and 512MB Crucial ballistix DDR 500 RAM

I would like to get about 2.5GHz out of the processor, the only problem i have is that during the summer it hits 30°C in my room and 32°C case temp. What cooler would you recomend in this situation. I would like it to be quiet as it will be on 24/7.

Money is not really a problem at the moment.

    Thanks for suggestions

In that case, I don't think it would be possible to recommend anything over the xp-90, unless you want a cooler for its looks rather than effect.

XP-120? think it will fit ok, but worth double checking.

Don't be stupid. I don't think i'll need that much cooling to get to 2.5GHz.

Why i do want decent performance and since the case has a window in it then it may be a good idea to have something with looks as well.

i think he was joking about the liquid nitro cooling, that's for big old Crays and stuff

I love my Arctic Cooling Silencer64 Ultra TC-L. The heatsink is so good at cooling my Winchester 3500 that the temp controlled fan actually stops for several seconds at a time when idle so remember to switch off cool n quiet (have to for o/cing anyway) and any CPU fan monitors. I had to order mine from Germany to get the -L model (with blue lights) but the non lighted one can be had in the UK.

As for case fans, remember the PSU has a big fan sucking air out the case so you want one more intake than output fan. Get a case with 12cm fan mounts if at all possible, much quieter than 8's.

    http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu1.php?p=3&disc=

Dead easy to fit altho i'd get some good TIM like Akasa stuff, use that instead of the stuff that comes with the cooler.

EDIT: sorry i just re-read and saw you have the case already, ignore that bit

sorry but the case only has 8's at the back. i've worked with the arctic cooling heatsinks before on the socket a platform and they did a reasonable job. i wouldn't use them in a hot room like mines going to be running in.

My room is roasting and the PC sits next to the tumble dryer believe it or not (tiny flat). My CPU sits about 22C-25C idle, 35C or thereabouts flat out. Hence I swear by Arctic Cooling silencers. Not much you can do about the case then.

not really i could probably put 2x 92mm fans at the back if i modded the case but not any bigger.

also my idle temp will have to be above 32°C as that will be the case temp so that will put me much higher. i don't like having to ever exceed 50°C.

are you running a s939 processor as my 754 downstairs idles at about 35°C in a 28°C case and under load it hits about 47°C thats with a scythe samurai with a vantec tornado fan on top at about 9V or so.

since u have a nice acrylic window, u could try my solution.. either a Gigabyte 3D Cooler GT Ultra or a vanilla Gigabyte Rocket 3D Cooler Pro should do the trick.. they don't cost a bomb and the GT Ultra cools mighty well (not as well as XP-90c but pretty close)... and it comes with 4 really attractive LEDs... and really... when the lights go off.. it really turns you on.. ohh man! I'm feeling it this very moment...
    Me want Ultrabook

like the lighting idea but i bet its a bit noisy though, i would like quiet to moderate with pritty good performance to match, well enough to keep it below 50°C even when overclocked with a little more juice going into it.
