problems with overclocking.. need help urgently............

hey guys I was ocing my system when increased the fsb somehow the multiplier got reduced to 5x from 9x..

.I tried to bring it back both manually and even by setting it on auto but still it remains at 5x. Need Ur help...?

C&Q is also disabled....

My pc is amd 3000+ 939 Winchester and msi neo4 f nf4 board...

Also forgot to mention I have updated my bios from 1.10 to 1.50 today.....

There is no jumper setting on the mobo to flash it..... So I tried to remove the battery and replaced it. It now shows 9x...

Could this be bcoz of the bios update or is their any other way out to solve the problem????????????

These r the pics when my pc shows 1 GHz..... see if u can do anything about it... the multiplier changes only when I enter the bios and change anything.

Whenever the multiplier goes down to 5x I have to remove the battery and replace it.

How the hell should I overclock???????

Firstly, why did u want to move ur multi down to 5x? 9x is low enuf for any decent HTT overclock..

The lowest I went on my 3500+ was 9x and it worked fine up to 295MHz HTT

i didn't reduce the multiplier it itself got reduced and uit does not go back to 9x even if set manually.thts my problem.
till i try out with the ocing options the multiplier sticks to 5x only on resetting the bios it goes back to 9x .
what should i do?????????????????

why not flash ur mobo to an older bios and see if it helps... no point going higher on bios rev if its giving u all sorts of problems..

from what I have heard I would dump corecell for 1.

I can't believe that MSI designed a board without a clear CMOS jumper.
edit: according to the manual (2-25) it is a button SW1 to the side of the BIOS chip & below the SATA connectors.

how do i restore older bios version.
and also i didn get what buff mentioned

yeap... from what BUFF is writing.. yeap... umm.. well.. go visit MSI.. download a bios update (older than this problematic one).. flash the bios like how u did with this... and VOILA

1. Don't use MSI's Corecell to overclock - clockgen or BIOS are better.
2. According to the manual I downloaded (sad amn't I?) there is no jumper but there is a ClearCMOS switch. It is labelled SW1 & is beside the BIOS chip & below the SATA connectors.

I'm running the Neo4 SLi board and the cmos button is the wee red button just below the cmos battery. Due to problems with the board and a venice core I'm using clockgen to overclock as the bios is woeful. Notice that the voltage is dropping down to just over 1v when the multi is dropping? some sort of cool and quiet or throttling problem?

MSI's non-SLI NF4 boards are crap. I have had very bad luck with them and the RMA department is pretty slow and completely non-responsive. It took almost 2 weeks to get a replacement Neo4 Platinum from them and they did not answer a single email. They were also terrible on the phone. Keep in mind I live right down the street from the USA headquarters. Imagine if I was far from them?

RMA the board and get an Asus A8N-E. You won't believe the difference.
