    Very backwards Overclock

Here's a nice good overclock for the true old skool among you.

I have managed to get a cheap P3 500MHZ in a case mod I will be doing.

Whats the best I can clock this upto and how do I do it?

(not sure on which mobo comes with it yet, it was an old server, only cost me 99p)

IIRC the 500 P3 was a slot1 Katmai core, 5x100. The katmais were absolute crap for overclocking - the old 450 i had wouldnt even hit 500.
Also if the board has an Intel chipset you won't be able to clock it as they're all multi and fsb locked.

If you can clock it, just raise the FSB and watch that puppy fly

Only reason is that I am going to be using it to test a couple of ideas of mine for a case mod (I bought it mainly for the case)

All Pentium processors from the PII onwards are multi locked, nowt to do with the chipset (although some P4 Prescotts have a choice of two multis thanks to speedstep). As rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishey says, it's likely to be a Katmai, and therefore not likely to be a stellar overclocker.

do tell us how you get along though, it make make some interesting reading. i do agree though that the particular processor you have isn't a great clocker.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks
