    1GB or 2x512MB?

Whats the best method, buying 2 sticks of 512MB or a single 1GB stick?

In the past I would have gone for 2x512MB as if one dies I can still run the system, is the ram quiality much better these days?

    The mobos are:

    Asus P4S8X, and
    Abit IT7 Max2 v2

    2 x 512MB = £23.50/e = £47
    1 x 1GB = £49.75/e

    thanks,

Both mobo's dont claim dual channel ram on the websites, so i think its safe to say that i'll get no performance difference with either.
