Whens the PPU out!!!
As far as i know its out soon as there is a new game coming out in a few months that supports it so you would assume it would be out at the same time so as to take advantage of the feature.

Loving those videos, especially number 3. Reminds me of crashing planes numerous times on Battlefield Vietnam on Xcelsion's laptop. I saw those PhsyX cards will be about £200 when they come out this year according to Custom PC. Can't wait to get my hands on one, I might have to buy a half decent piece of hardware for once.

The Ageia PPU is going to be a separate card. It will be both PCI-E 1x and PCI compatable. It should cost about 250 bucks in the US. The next unreal will probably be the first major game to support it.
I like the loook of that, however does anyone think the materials are a little soft and bouncy. the physics isnt perfect. Maybe they are exaggerating to make it obvious.
Very impressive. I personally thought the liquid effect was the most 'cutting edge' :)
Lets hope it is PCI-E 1x then I can pair one up in my shuttle with my 7800GTX :D

I think i may have found my christmas present. This will really take the strain of the CPU? Apart from AI what else uses cpu? Arnt the new games like unreal gunna be programed so they use dual cpu, one core for physics, one for ai, what now? or am i already wrong?
EDIT: ATI and Nvidia must have something in the works? They arnt gunna let ageia get the market sector?
Well, some suggest the PPU will be part of the graphics card, so the possibility of having 2 seperate cards connected is growing ever more improbable by the day (when you consider that ATi/Nvidia will want to get their foot in the door).

1 & 2) CPUs can only handle upto around 50 objects doing real world physics. Because it has to communicate between all the devices, the ram, your graphics and everything else.
3) Unreal engine 3 does have multicore capabilities (confirmed now) and the PPU will also be on the PS3 (check the ageia news section)
ATI are the only graphics manufacturers to have released informationabout Physx graphics cards. Nvidia are yet to step up to the post. All information so far shows that the PPU will be combined with a graphics card.
I think Sony have only licensed the SDK for creating the physics in PS3 games. The actual PPU chip won't be in PS3. Sony will use part of their Cell processer for the job.Quote:
