memory config / monitor software

Hello all,

I'm strugglging to get my head around the memory managment that is "T1 and T2"

I'm currently running 2x 1gb sticks in dual channel mode in an asus AV8 deleux.

the bios memory managment for "T2 mode" is set to auto.

Questions.

1.) How can I tell what memory configuration is runnign when the systems up (eg: what config auto has put it into)

2.) Does anyone have a recommendation for a site with a good explination on the T1/T2 definiations and getting good solid use out of the ram.

I'm not complaining about my current performance which seems good, however I would like to know where I am currently at.

This sounds like 1T/2T/CPC/Command Rate - apologies if it isn't!

The memory controller runs off a clock like everything else, i.e. 200mhz = 200 million "ticks" of the clock. T2 (or 2T) effectively sends a request to the memory every other "tick", T1 (or 1T) does this every tick. It is important to remember that this does not mean what 1T is twice as fast as the "command" issued is not representative of the whole memory cycle - i.e. the controller can pass on data back to the main bus on the "empty" ticks.

Best thing to do, as ever, is experiment and benchmark to see what yeilds the best synthetic results.

To be more specific, try setting T2 mode to disabled.

1) Usually when you boot up in the POST it will say 1T or 2T.
A64tweaker will also tell you if you are in 1T or 2T.
