Hmm, i imagine that temp increase is more noticable at 100% load.
The money will be spent on a soundcard anyway, not wanting to put that much money in the pc atm and i'll be spending £60 on new fans/gpu cooler/thermal paste etc soon

I know I'm less than 70 underload as thats what I have flagged as a warning temp on my system but I haven't checked properly. I've had an old non HT 2.4 chip oc'd to 3.2. for nearly 2 years now aswell with no probs (that was done by clocking the fsb from 400 to 533).
Regardless of getting a new chip I would have a go at ocing your chip... just try to avoid clocking the pci/agp/sata as they can be quite sensitive (hopefullyyour mb bios has a frequency lock on these!)
Cheers,
JB
yeh lock the agp and pci on 66mhz...
I can get it upto about 2.8 with locked agp/pci but i was just wondering when i first posted this thread if the 2.4 would be worth getting.
As you can tell, decided again it and its sold now anyway
