Are the batteries supposed to die out on you roughly say every 2 weeks ?
Just using generic no-name AA batteries and the keyboards (Microsoft MM wireless rev 1.a ) started dropping letters, generally not responding and even the mouse started to jump a bit.
I use the keyboard quite a bit between say 9-5.30 and the occasional weekend but surely thats not much usage and they should last longer ?
I might try some "branded" batteries to see if that makes a difference.
Shouldn't die out every two weeks.
I change my batteries every 2-3months, my mums every two, but she types on it almost 24/7 (teacher) at the mo.
We use good quality NIMH rechargeables (the 2300mAh ones) cost a bit more, but with a 5hr recharge and long life its good quality.
ahh thats probably the reason. I was using "el-cheapo" 29p for about 10 AA batteries.
Swapped to some rechargables and it seems better but I might just swap back to the cherry keyboard as I find that more comfortable to use ( plus its cleaner :D )
If your getting 10 AAs for 29p what do you expect :p .
Really cheap battiries are usually pretty crap TBH. Try them in a cd walkman theyll prob only last an hour.
My MS wireless keyboard (v2) has had the same batteries in for over 6 months and still going strong. But it's very prone to interference which i sometimes think is the batteries, only to found out its the mobile in my pocket causing it. Also, don't trust the battery indicator in the software, complete rubish.
Yeah, my MS v2 has been fine, although it says it's low on battery, but isn't.
Also - watch out for cheap batteries leaking. I had some Tesco Value batteries kill my TV remote recently. :mad:Quote:

I had a wireless keyboard a year ago, but I found that they lasted only a day. I bought rechargable batteries and charged a pair while using the pair for the keyboard. Not sure if it was an MS keyboard or not as it was a present, but to me wireless is not good.
I have a logitec wireless keyboard and mouse, the mouse has rechargables but the keyboard is on duracel and is still going strong after 5 months with no change.
in wireless keyboard the batteries should last ages, but with mouses it depends on make since theres alot more sending and recieiving ;)
get some NimH ive seen 2500 mA ones about thats more than good alkaline AAs i think
or they are about the same.
2500mA ones are far too pricey, A set of 8AA 2300mA and 4AAA 750mA with charger should cost around £15-£20
i got 4 pack of sanyo 2500's with quick charger for £20 ok this was in japan but
you can get them if you look around.
