Question Asus A7V 200Mhz FSB capable of 16x DVD Writing?

    Hi everyone
A friend of mine wants to do a few upgrades to his system, mainly the addition of a hard drive and modern dvd writer.

    Apologies for the vague spec:
Currently he has an Asus A7V with 256 or 512mb of PC100 or PC133 SDRAM
    Processor is a 1Ghz Athlon
GFX is a Radeon All In Wonder 128
40GB Hard drive - this will be upgraded with the addition of maybe an 80gb

Would a system like this be capable of burning DVDs from the Hard drive without buffer underuns? ie at 16x with a new NEC or some such writer.
Im reluctant to suggest a motherboard upgrade if his current is capable, he only really uses the PC for internet.

    Thanks for reading,
    All replies appreciated

All modern writers have Buffer Underrun protection, so it shouldn't happen anyway.

    Yea ^ ^ I agree.

I had a faulty IDE lead so I had buffer underruns up to 90 times under a single burn (it would tell me at the end). It provided much laughter for a LAN party I was at so me and the guys ended up finding it to be one of my nice fancy UV-Reactive silver-chained IDE leads
