    92mm Blower???

I'm currently upgrading my system, getting the Thermalright XP-90C heatsink, but I'm looking around at fans for it.

I've currently got a Coolermaster Aero 7 on my system, just wondering if anyne has ever seen (or better yet could direct me to) a 92mm blower type fan suitable to stick on a cpu heatsink?

I'm kind of expecting to draw a blank on this, but I do like the blower fans as there is no "dead zone" under the centre of the fan as you get with normal ones.

Blower fans are hard to get in the larger sizes due to their size and lack of stability.

I remember hearing something about the motorless ones (powered by a coil around it like a motor) but they were far too noisy and removed

You could always offset the fan with a bit of tubing to allow the air to mix a bit before it gets to the heatsink.

Edit: Duct - that's the word

Sorry mate, googled it extensively for 10 minutes and came up empty. I've never seen one above 80mm. Dougals right, they are hard enough to get right as it is. 92mm would be v.noisy.

A fan duct may do what you want. Just extends the fan away from the mount a bit and gets full airflow

You could use an 80mm duct with an 80-92mm (or higher, may as well use 120mm) adaptor. It all depends on if you can find a way to attach the duct to the heatsink.

Or you could use something like a Zalman bracket hovering over the heatsink with a 120mm fan on it.

Like I said, I was expecting to draw a blank.

Going down a slightly different road, how about a 92 to 120mm adaptor? I have seen one for £4, the only issue I might have is with the clips that'll fix it to the heatsink.

This would certainly help cut some of the noise out of my system.

[Edit - hadn't refreshed for a while so I missed the last couple of posts]

    Oh Oh Oh me me

I'm working at ACI over the summer, they make blower fans of all shapes and sizes, i'm currnetly looking into using one myself to cool my pc, they have many benifits over radial fans, the only problem is likely to be they are a little more expensive.

    here is their website:
    www.air-con.co.uk

i suggest u send them an email and ask about what they have, they have many differnt size blowers in the stores trhat might not be on the site.

If u want want to know more i can always ask them for u, i know most of the designers and machine people so u could also get one modified pretty cheaply.

we had one running last week in the test area that sounded like a chopper was right above the factory, but it was an enormus fan, maybe weight 50-60 kg, the smaller ones are not so bad, and they dont specifficaly silence them all, so if they put thier silencing into one it should be maybe a little louder but u get much better performance, i'm going to talk to the producition ,manger tomorrow, see what he thinks and if i can get some free samples

I have a blower thats probably 92mm, but I took off the mounting screw plate for it.... (which I threw away) I use it as my desktop fan because its like a mini blizzard... and a mini jet engine.
