Anyone heard of this before?

An old HP Computer (celeron 433) with 64mb, so I decide to upgrade the memory

- put in a 256mb stick in addition to the 64, BIOS detects it says 320 mb - boot into windows 2000 - it only sees 64mb !

- so i try the 256mb stick on it's own - bios detects it as 256mb, windows tries to boot but says "windows NT requires more base memory 0k base memory found..."

so basically windows 2000 does not recognise this 256mb stick of ram even though the bios does !

Is the RAM is fast for the MB? 133 when maybe it only takes 100?

ah it is 133mhz ram, but the motherboard will only want to run at 66 (coz it's a 433 celeron)... maybe that's why.

Sounds like it.

I put a 512mb pc133 stick is a friends out comp and it only saw it as a 256mb.

werid if the bio's see it as 256 them win2000 should i would assume that its pc133 i would just get 2x 128mb sticks if possible.
