    upgrade

    What I want ........ .

    Coolermaster Aero 7 Lite (Socket A)
    AMD Athlon "Barton" XP2500+ 333FSB (Socket A)
    Abit NF7-S v2.0 nForce2 (Socket A) Motherboard
    TwinMOS 512MB (2x256MB) DDR PC3200 Dual Channel Kit
    Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 Serial ATA 120GB 8MB Cache
    OEM Q-Tec 450W Dual Fan Gold PSU
    Akasa Serial ATA PSU Converter
    Akasa Serial ATA 45cm Silver
    Data Cable PowerColor Radeon 7500 64MB EVIL MASTER - Retail (GX-001-PC)
    DVD Case Black (100 Box)

    (None gaming machine, I have a SN41G2+9700 pro )

    I'm currently running,

    2000XP
    ASUS V8X MOBO
    256MB PC2700 RAM
    120GB HDD Western Digital
    Q-Tec 400W PSU
    Lite-On CDRW
    Coolermaster 201

    Will I see a performance increase??

    Yeah when using a lot of programs.

    Cool, This pc will be only used for CD buring and general duties, word , e-mail etc etc

    if its only for word processing why not just leave it as it is. Xp2000 would be fine for that. Maybe stick another 256Mb Ram in it though.

    I like to spend money on computers upgrading is an excuse tbh, the 2000XP will be used for our LAN server..

    oh rite, fair enough then

    If you want to run some decent games it will need a better GFX card but apart from that it looks a nice system.

    GFX card is fine for what i do tbh......

    The NF-7S comes with one S-ATA cable, and the Maxtor drive has a molex power connector, so you won't need the converter.

    instead of getting the rd maybe get the nf7-m same board just with onbaord graphics- might save you a few quid mate

    I'm not to keen on on-board graphics, thanks for the suggestion.

    Well I chickened out in the end on this upgrade, took a look at my bank balance and it needs some rest.
