S(but not too small)FF - For UNI.

Thinking about uni, i dont really want a laptop, but i also dont want a full sized desktop.
- So i though i'd have a go at building my first SFF

I dont really want a shuttle, becuase there too 'common' And i dont really want a very small case, becuase i need to room to breath!!

I was looking at getting somthing like this as being smaller than a full atx case, but still having room for a full sized optical drive and HDD, and enought room to wack a big HS/fan on the CPU and GPU for silent running.

- Otherwise i might just buy a big industral heatsink and make my own SFF version of the Zalman TNN500A !!

Kustompcs do some sweet looking HTPC cases, but i dont know what they are like for full size cards, would look well cool sat under a nice LCD.

yeah check out the HTPC's on kustom. some of them may require pci/agp riser cards but if you look around some of them will accept card without risers, although these may be sightly too bulky for what you want them for. also they arent really designed to be moved around much.

SilverStone 'SUGO', it's not too small it lets you get a full sized ATX PSU in the chassis, 2 optical drives, two hard drives, still have room for a Artic Silence graphics cooler & a Zalman 7000 heatsink if not a 7700.

Athlon xp3000+
Ati 9800pro
2*256mb Pc3200
On a micro atx board?

With a fanless cooler on the gpu and NB, and somthink big and quite on the cpu

Is this sort of thing possable with a SFF?
- I've never build anythink other than full desktops
- But there always seams to be more space that components in them!
- I mean, you can get all your Kboard/mouse/games/headset/dog, it all just fits into it! (well, almost)

Mainly cos theyre usually fairly big, about the same size as a CD seperate from a hifi, and usually quite heavy, if youve got a car/ lift from parents then youre golden.

The Silverstone "Sugo" certainly is a nice case.. thinking about changing to one of these when I move soon - if i'm short on space.
