    A7N8X-d ver 1.04 trouble at 200FSB

    1700 tbred B
running lovely at 166/333 chip at 2.1ghz ish

getting some nice 433mhz capable memory I thought I'd try for 200mhz

so I can get better bandwidth and higher chip clocking

    but it's not happy
    any advice?
does the Uber bios help if I clock the northbridge a little??
    cheers

That's based on the original nForce2 which only offered unofficial untested 400FSB support unlike the Ultra400 and std 400 (rev 2.0 mobos). Most original nForce2 mobos did work with 400FSB with TbredB but Barton was usually the more problematic one, IIRC you should try an extra 0.1v on the chipset (ensure NB isn't too hot) and definitely use the latest BIOS, perhaps drivers too. Benefits of 400FSB over 333FSB really aren't that significant, since all nF2 should be able to lock the PCI/AGP you can use any FSB between the 2 with great stability, don't worry if you don't get 400FSB+.

    I just want 200
the reason being is that the multipliers don't seem to work after 12.5 and it reverts to 1100mhz, 11 x 100fsb
so a bit more memory bandwidth and the best out of my tbred is all I want

I have decent case cooling and atm mobo is 24oC, chip 40oC idle
so the NB should be okay, the SB has a HSF on it, the NB the default passive Al sink

    cheers

I also have a 1.04 and have had it up to 217FSB stable, running at 205 at the moment. That's using the Uber bios, if you do increase the chipset voltage make sure you have a fan on NB.
