    Doh, just re-read the above

The Gigabyte 6600GT slots in there rather appropriately I think...

Also, the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium has a passive heatsink instead of a fan which sounds (!) groovy to me - costs more though :¬I

With the 1gb ram that is a good system, with potential for dual core in the future and SLI it means that upgrading in the future will be easier.
Something like a 6600gt(about £100) up to a 6800gt(200) would be a good idea graphics wise based on the rest of the system. Scan don't currently do a standard 6800 in PCI-e but I have only seen ebuyer and savastore sell them. There's an XFX 128MB version that is around £130 on savastore. I have a feeling that they will overclock well.

the 6800gt pci-e is generally more expensive than the agp version

for pci-e Id get an x800xl, they are cheaper

They are cheaper but not by much anymore, the cheapest XL is around £190. I have seen 6800GTs (PCI-e) at under £200, the cheapest on Scan is the OEM XFX version is £199 and the retail is only £10 more or something like that. Performance wise it's tricky I think the 6800GT has the slight edge, and for the future it a) It has SS3 and b) SLI support. I would expect a further drop as the ULTRA prices must be lowered heavily,as it's still the same price as a 7800GT which outperforms it easily, and therefore the GT prices.

CPU: All cool, 3000+ is great value atm

Case: I dont know much about the gigabyte case but I'm not a fan of big flashy cases. I think the money is generally much better spent on the kit inside the case rather than the case itself. A good value but still quality case is the Coolermaster Centurion at about £40 from Scan.

Motherboard: I haven't heard smashing things about the gigabyte board and I can't even remember if I've ever seen anyone with one. However it is cheap and thats a pretty big consideration and performance wise unless you're overclocking there should be nothing to worry about.

Memory: Heatspreaders are generally pretty useless and don't affect performance but they do at least make ram look nice.

HDD: They're all pretty generic these days so any brand is good.

Graphics: If you've got the cash got for a 6800gt, will get you much better performance than a 6600gt and you won't need to upgrade for a while.

Just to check have you already got a psu? I wouldn't risk a no name psu on any rig these days.

I've read that the ebuyer own brand psus are very good value, they are scarily cheap though. £10 for 500w.

I would have to vote for the DFI LanParty board instead. It will really take that 3000+ some places no other Nforce board can go.
