What Cooler?

Hey there,

I think it's getting to that time where I should replace my CPU heatsink/fan. A lot has changed over the years that I've owned it, and summer time is getting too much for my current setup.

What's the current choices/recommendations? I'm hoping for something that's not going to sound like Concorde, or that I can tame with a manual adjustment.

The rig this is intended for is the one in my sig (As you can tell, it's overclocked somewhat ).

I'm using it and it is damn nice, except that it does not cool well with load of dust inside.

I would get the Thermalrigh SP-97 (not sure if thats correct??) with whatever case fan takes your fancy - get one with RPM control (3pin)

Xp 90C if it fits socket A, if not then i had a thermalright SLK 900U ( ithink thats the name) with a 92mm delta, that kept an overclocked 2400 at around 10 degrees over ambient.

With that advice then, would I be right in thinking that a ThermalRight SI-97 paired with a YS-Tech FD9325 92mm should be the recommendation? I was hoping for a fan that could be adjusted, but cant seem to find any 92mm ones. :/

The YS-Tech one almost matches the recommended ratings for the SI-97 shown on http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...oduct_si97.htm

Also, I was kinda hoping to order these from scan as I've grown to like their service. Unfortunately scan does not appear to stock any of the items I was looking for.

Ooo, scan do stock the Jet 7+. Is this any good?

Another complication to this matter is that I need a northbridge replacement for my motherboard as well. From what I've been told, the Zalman passive one is to look for. As of yet, I can't find this on scan.

With my A64 at stock (3200+ and XP-120)I can run any fan on it - in fact it hardly even comes on at all - my idle temps were 24°C and my loads temps 32-3°C

I'm using 3000+ and Stock heatsink, idle 26 and load 34'C, not bad for stock cooler.

Cracking fans both of these............save some money with the Alu/copper one as well - theres only about 3 degree's diffrence in temp, If your not O'clking it the cheaper one makes sense.

Just to forward you to the initial post, I did say this is overclocked.
