    Fans..... rotation??

Ok i have a strange question ( i think ) if you take a fan and change the 12volt and ground wires over, presuming its safe ( dont see why it wouldnt be in thie case, as it just makes an electromagnet? ) - this would cause the blades to spin the other way? BUT would this give the same CFM levels in the other direction? i ask because i want the fans to point the other way, but blow the oposite way - hope this makes sence!

    thanks for any help

this would depend on the fan i think.. ive tryed it before and it set the fan on fire, but it wil work on some types of fan. i think it depends on if the rotor or the stator is the electromagnet, or if both are. ive just tryed it with a 40mm fan, works normally, dont move atal when backwards, didnt leave it long enuf for it to have a chance at burning
also just tryed with a system blower type fan, didnt work either

it doesn't work that simply m8 the fan blades have a lot to do with the direction or flow !!

if you want to blow in the other direcection then simply remove the fan and turn it over!!

in most cases i would nod 3Dfx, however all most fans do is make a magnet, by using a coil of copper wire around iron, in most cases - turning this around would be unlikly to do cause a fire, i would think, thats for most fans though, some have magents around the outside, im not to sure how those work
