    TFT owners please answer this..

I am interested as to hear about TFT owners who have owned the screens for say 6 months or more. if you could post and say how long you have had it under ''normal everyday usage'' , I want to hear if your screens have significantly deteriorated over time. - thanks

Using a HP f2304 at work for about seven months and its fine, no change. On the other hand a 17" LG beside it is a little duller - probably a year or two old now though.

My first LCD (15") lasted 7 years before it sudden death 3.5yrs ago. My Second LCD (15") still working now, 3.5 years old colour looks a bit pale (it was like that since day1 but think it did get paler over years., but the backlight is getting weaker than before. My current LCD (20" Dell) still looks perfect.

Prefer the old school monitors TBH. I still use them on my main PC - two 15 inchers! Lol. My other PC uses a single 17" TFT and looks alot duller and more faded than the CRTs.

EDIT: Oh, and the money! The money!

Moi aussi!!! My f2304 has been going about a year now, being on for most of the day, every day since then, and is still going strong!!!! Seems as bright as ever and I have no complaints whatsoever!

Unfortunately, CRTs are currently going out of major production, so grab them while you can! I'm tempted by TFTs, but still can't justify the cost and risk of dead pixels, and possibly poor interpolation at resolutions other than native (I haven't really looked into this recently).

My first 15" TFT got 3 dead pixels after 2 years and a dead thunderbug in it (little bastard), my current 19" is going great so far. I wouldn't say that the colours are that washed out either. It's just right in my opinion.

Plus they look infinitely times nicer than CRT monitors.

I've had maa TFT for over 6months now and not noticed any fading at all really. The colours aren't quite (by a very small bit) as good as my old CRT, but the image is sharper IMO. Plus I can sit near the desk and not have it in my face

I've owned an NEC 1760NX 17" TFT for over 2 years now. Its still better than any other 17" I've used, was one of the first 16ms released on the market and am really hoping my Dell 2005fpw will be just as good.

I have noticed no deterioration whatsoever, in use every day for atleast 4 hours.

Using a IIyama 17", not sure what model, had it about 2 years and it is just as good as the day I got it. Am looking to upgrade to a 20" at some point though.

Mine is now 2.5yrs old (perhaps more).
    Hitachi 174SWXB iirc

It has developed a slight brightness bleed from outside in.

It's only noticable in a very dark room.

Do you know you can always increase the brightness either on the monitor and in the driver. I'm using 0% brightness all the time. Tune down the gamma to get more vibrant colour.

I have been using a 15" NEC at work for the past three years. Haven't noticed any colour problems - probably because I have a 15" CRT monitor glass screen filter attached to it to cut the brightness etc.
