that means you need a good fan to cool it down. my case has a 120mm fan blowing the harddrives & they are cold btw =).
Download Dtemp it's a freeware program that will tell you what tempreature your hard drive is at. Try it after defragmenting your drive to give the highest temp, I would say it should be below 60c to be safe.
If not, as in above post, put a fan in front of it, most tower cases have room for at least 1 fan at the front.
Speedfan is very good as well and has cpu temp etc and if i remember is free. personnally i wouldent want a drive going over 50c. but would really want it at 30c
Most HDDs have a temp probe, they have S.M.A.R.T. on them, when it first came out it was a nightmare, but its much better now.

Definately get some airflow across the surface my friend. I have 2x 80mm fans running at 7v blowing air across 4 Raptors which are always cool to the touch. Heh, you should try cooling an old SCSI drive sometime: I once let one run by itself to take the temps and the surface casing burnt the skin of my fingertip off when it hit around 80 degrees![]()
Dtemp doesn't work for me. :/Originally Posted by eljefehall
Oh yeah, seagate has an online smart status thing which is handy for just quickly checking your drive temps etc. without installing monitoring apps:
