    Motherboard Decision Help

I'm building a new rig and have decided to get either of these 2 motherboards, Which one do you recommend.

    Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe

    Or

    Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty

    Cheers

I used to always prefer Abit over Asus, but they've lost their way of late (take my foo-barred KV8pro as an example).

Go for the Asus. I can't believe there's much performance between the two, and it's got fewer fans

Both are fairly good motherboards, but they're both far from perfect. I've not tried the Abit myself, but I have heard they're not the most stable. Also they're quite expensive compared to other nforce4 boards.

I am using the Asus A8N-SLI deluxe right now. It has issues which you can get past, and it's very stable, but I still wouldn't recommend it. The chipset fan is whiny and loud. Most people have replaced it with a zalman passive heatsink. For overclocking, it's not bad, but it won't let you clock your memory above 240Mhz. CPU voltage won'nt go above 1.55v (without a mod).

The chipset fan and RAM overclocking issues are fixed in the A8N-SLI premium board though. If you want to go with Asus, then go with the premium not the deluxe.

The most recommended motherboard for enthusiasts is of course the DFI Ultra-D. While it's not perfect, I think it's closer to perfection than the other nforce4 motherboards

I would go for the DFI, but its a bit out of my price range, I can get these two mobos from a shop round the corner that has repaired them for £60-80 each.
