    Using Raid connector

I have a comp, all IDE options used. On MB is raid connectors. Can I use one of these just to connect another HDD and use it as just another drive, without raid options like stripe etc, just need another ide drive on the system.

plug in the harddrives there, when you boot it should say the drive is in RAID0+1 mode which is fine. You could connect all the 4 drives and they all say RAID0+1. DO NOT enter the RAID BIOS or anything saying "Accept" (i.e. Accept recommended configuration, etc)

If you want to play safe, just plug in 1.

Otherwise buy a PCI ide controller. There's some cheap ones out there.
