AVG free edition works for me.
Or avast!
F-Prot here
I use AVG free too. It seems to be good. However most of my net browsing is done on my mac.
NOD32:

You can download a 30 day trial version from the site.:)
It's low on system resources and will not slow down your PC like Norton. Virus database gets updated quite a few times during the day.
I love AVG Free. It catches sinister stuff without a problem and keeps itself up to date.
I'll have to switch to McAfee when I go to uni though :(
No problem with Norton, I just don't like spending un-needed money.
I use AVG on my 32 bit windows and I have it integrated with MSN, email, MIRC and so on. Found a few viruses as I leave MSN on auto-receive.
I always had a prob with AVG getting rid of nasties on the PC's here @ work. Detection is fine tho. I've only ever had one viral infection & that was an archaic word virus, my own stupidity there :) F-Prot & Pest Patrol work for me.
Another vote for NOD32....a truly excellent AV prog. ;)
I've got Norton, never let a single virus/trojan through.
I've heard good things about panda anti virus
kaspersky is the best ive used, preffered it to norton, mcafee, avg and nod. updates daily and is run by anal russian dudes.
buy f-secure at f-secure.com or amazon.co.uk its great ive got it
I used to use Sophos, might be overkill for home users, but its solid as a rock.
