I would personally go for some value RAM, with 2X1GB - apparently, Battlefield 2 likes plenty of RAM, as games in the future probably will. With a San Diego 3700+ and a 7800GT, 2GB should really be considered.

You reckon mike_w? 2GB is amazingly tempting, but I would have thought 1GB of high quality ram would be more than sufficient for now? I think I'll wait it out a few months and step it up to another gigabyte worth of higher quality gear, rather than purchase 2GB value RAM from the getgo.

It's just delivery time I have to combat now, especially since it's a Bank Holiday weekend. But, I guess after waiting so long for a PC that is somewhat cutting edge, I'm sure I can wait it out a few more days for a machine that surpasses all I've owned before!
As you can tell, I'm more than excited on this one

If you're going for the other high spec parts, 2GB is going to be a bottleneck, especially in future games. Also, the more expensive RAM gives little performance benefit, especially when compared to the extra cost.Originally Posted by Xenctuary
If you do start with 1GB, I would buy just the one stick, so that you can add another one in later without any problems. Although this does mean you lose some performance since you're not utilising dual channel, I think it is better in the long run.

After all that talk, I have finally ordered it all! I should have all of the components here by Thursday morning, allowing me to get everything up and running just in time for tea

Now considering that I not only ordered on a Bank Holiday, but also just before midnight, I wasn't expecting anything to arrive until the end of the week.
My order was processed just before 1400 today and was dispatched an hour ago. It'll be here tomorrow morning.
I'm impressed Scan.
I really am.
