Cheap and chearful Printer Wanted

hi,

i've got to buy an inkjet printer for my parents tonight. wont be used for photoes but colour is needed.

can anyone recomend something in the region of £50.

if u can stretch for another £10~£20 you can get an epson r200, which is one of the best printers around even prints on CD too, but if not, go for a canon or hp or epson, dont get lexmark they are crap imho.

I have a C86 cos me £60 but I get the cartridges for £1 each. And they are individuals.

If you spend a bit more on a printer you'll save a fortune in cartridges I find.

I've bought a few Epson low end printers C20(UX) etc. for relatives/friends over a few years. Value for money is good but obviously quality isn't the best.

Cartridges are cheap (especially from computer fairs).

Looks like a Lexmark to me. Very high runnings costs on one of those babies.

You'd be better off getting a Canon IP3000. Prints on CDs, Duplex printing, 2 paper feeds and individual ink tanks

The cheapest, I have an NEC dvd writer and out of around 250 cheap dvds only 2 have failed, (and the failed ones were bought from poundland)

If you want a really cheap printer, then check out WHSmith's current Electrical Bargains page - they've got a Lexmark All-in-one for under £20, and an HP with built-in card reader for under £30.... the Lexmark isn't a brilliant printer, but it's colour, includes a scanner, and is very, very cheap from them right now.

And when the ink runs out you can buy a new printer cheaper than some more ink!

Head along to Bigpockets, pic up a cheap Epsom, use it, throw it away & buy another when the ink runs out as it's cheaper than buying new carts. That's what I do with the kids more often than not.

Epsons are the main printer where it's NOT cheaper to just buy a replacement printer - there are hundreds of vendors selling Epson-compatible cartridges... often for only a couple of quid each - much cheaper than buying a new printer each time.
