Unhappy yep, another beginner in need of your expertise !

i am having BIG problems trying to get my system to accept it's agp8.

    a7n8x r2 deluxe 1006
    radeon 9200
    2*512 ddr 3200
    catalyst dvrs 3.8
win xp pro svs pack1 + all updates

all drivers as up to date as yesterday was to today !

    HELP !

i have enabled apg8 support in the bios and chose the same in settings through said catalyst dvrs and reboot as requested to enable, but on reboot it always reverts to 4* speed. i may be a virtual novice compared to some of you out there, but i cant think what i'm missing ?

    cheers ppl in advance

Make sure the card is seated securely in the agp slot.
R-points pyramid scheme is NOT allowed on HEXUS. Please do not add it back again - thank you.

It must be annoying to have AGP4x only but event the top end cards don't need AGP8x so I really wouldn't worry, Rad9200 really isn't going to gain anything from AGP8x. Be sure to check the BIOS has AGP8x set, perhaps try disabling Fast Writes and Sideband, maybe even drop AGP Aperture down a little just to see if they help. Of course if they do help I'd seriously suggest running AGP4x with them on rather than AGP8x without ... not that perf gains from FW+SBA+Ap are in any big but certainly far more beneficial than AGP8x.

redeyebriggs: maybe we should switch boards ... My AGP only goes to 4x, and has in the side notes to leave it at 4, reguardless of your card speed. MY CARD IS 8X 128MB.. GO FIGURE! NOT TO MENTION MY O'CLOCKING PROB.

i would check your card... if its 8x and the board has that option, then it should stay there, unless there is some patch or bios/video card update that might cover it.... if not i would exchange the card, hell who knows....
