    250gb IDE hard drives

    Hi.

I am looking at getting a 250gb hard drive, i dont want to spend too much - i found this; http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?s...&view=detailed

Is there anything better for a similar price? And is the warrenty on Maxtor's only 1yr or 3yr's?

I've heard good things about Samsung spinpoints, but the only one i could find was £75 with only 8mb buffer, where as the maxtor has 16mb

    Thanks
    Will

Samsung Spinpoint quieter and more reliable than Maxtors... Have had Maxtor drives in the past.. wouldn't again.

So you would say take the 8mb buffer (over the 16mb) of the samsung's for piece of mind? Ive had a couple of maxtors, and when i RMA'd them they have been fast, i havent had one fail catotrosphically (sp?) on me.

How much difference with the 16mb buffer make in real terms?
