Are you using a copy of the original OS cd? or the original?
If its a copy you can't have drag and dropped files you'd have had to do a full copy.

Ok just to narrow the problem.
Does the CD drives have power?
Have you changed the BIOS to boot from CD and saved changes?
Have you tried the Windows cd in a different machine?
no power going to the cd drives.
when i have my old sytem running (now) the power is going straight there.
it's an original oem version of win xp pro
Huh?
So have you plugged a molex into the cd drive? I'm assuming it has power as you're able to open the disc tray and stick in xp pro.
When you are in bios are you able to choose boot device priorites? Should give you options of cd/hd/removeable etc. If it isn't detected maybe try a different ide cable, i doubt it will be the jumpers or anything like that.
i have plugged the molex in but it has absoultely no power, the cd tray will not budge. the bios won't pick up the hdd's either pata or sata. sata not the issue as it's back-up, but it won't even pick the ide drive up.
i have changed all cables etc, but still no joy![]()
Havent been playing with the power connector have you ? I.e. 7v mod for fans etc..
disconnect the cd and then trial and error each drive individually
no riot, i wouldn't know where to start with that kind of thing.
i have swapped all the molex connectors around etc, but i will give it a go tonight again.
