I'm out hunting for an extra gig of memory.. was tempted by the low price for 2x512 Ballistix DDR400 2-2-2-6... Was wondering if anyone used them before?

Me want Ultrabook
I haven't personally but I think they use micron chips that do something in-between TCCD and BH5 performance-wise....good stufOriginally Posted by sawyen
Good RAM backed up with Crucials excellent warranty.
Good stuff indeed
already ordered... sweet...

I use them, admittedly never overclocked, and they run fine. One thing to note is that they have a higher than normal defualt voltage of 2.8v at 400mhz.
Have to admit i've never tried it at 2.6v. Just plugged it in saw, that it was recommended to be at 2.8v and left it at that. I feel some undervolting is in order, cheers mate
good custoemr service is crucial, so u wont have any worries in that dept.

Will your mobo be ok with 4 x 512 dimms? you might have to clock back a bitOriginally Posted by sawyen
I was gonna say that but....4 x 512mb DIMMS always leads to 2T and often leads to only 333MHzOriginally Posted by Sk!mD4Rk
I'm getting 2 x 1gb Crucial Tracers as they are the best overclocking modules I know (AFAIK)
Crucial are my favourite RAM supplier and they've got a free delivery offer at the moment. Plus, the Ballistix / Ballistix Tracer range just look downright cool

Yeah its very nice ram the Ballistix, you made a good choice there. I knew a few ppl who use it and have got some nice overclocking out of those Micron 5B G chips.
I was tempted to get some Ballistix myself till i came across a 1gb Dual Channel Kit of OCZ PC3500EL old BH-5 for £40 through a friend in the US. Couldn't pass that up
Currently using Crucial Ballistix at the moment, ram has ran solid since installed, never looked back since using crucial
4x512 will requires you to use 2T timing which reduce memory performance by around 10%
But DDR400 shouldn't be a problem since you're using a Venice, I had overclocked 4x1G to DDR510 and it ran fine
